What is the PRESMA project?

PRESMA stands for Partnered Research Evaluating Services with Migrants in Agriculture.

Our team is made up of academics, service leaders and providers, and support organizations interested in developing sustainable help for migrant agricultural workers in Southern Ontario and beyond.

Our work is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada since 2022. Our work consists of the following things:

1. Interviewing and consulting with migrant agricultural workers in three migrant worker dense regions: Windsor-Essex, Niagara and Haldimand-Norfolk. We have interviewed over 100 workers so far!
2. Interviewing and consulting with organizations and stakeholders with experience in supporting migrant agricultural workers across different sections (e.g. legal, social, health, etc.)
3. Using the knowledge we have gained to develop resources, guidelines and other material that can help build capacity and coordination for service providers across Southern Ontario. Deliverables will be determined in partnership with our community partners.
